HUMANISTS HAWAII
Minutes of the February 27, 2005 Meeting
1. Monthly Meeting started at 10:31 am
2. Andi mentioned several of the ill members, including Bob Wilcox and Barbara Mitchell.
3. Another items mentioned: Black history month, mass murder – good church going man, speaker – Dr. Churchill at UH.
4. Carolyn spoke about being at Churchill’s talk.
a. Got there early, 4:30pm, TV, one demonstrator with anti- signs, Hemmings and ugly white people. 300+ and overflow ended up outside because they could not set up in another hall due to wires being cut. And person not being available. Eiman who was an organizationalist, part of military industrialist complex who got the Jews to the ovens but never saw one of the camps. Churchill never used the term Nazi. Calculated risk, not a poster boy for this but the detractors want him out. Free speech.
b. Marcia – CIA & DOD had office in Twin Towers; can’t attack ideas then they go personal, like not Indian or PhD. Outside, people upset because they could see. Speakers were set up.
c. Channel 53, Democracy Now, 7 am; Channel 57, 10pm., Amy Goodman; internet – variety of alternative news sources.
5. New people how they heard about the Humanists meeting – Honolulu Weekly; Death with Dignity hearing; Ocean Institute; invited by Dr. Marilyn Kruss; notice in Advertiser.
